The core of Marketing Education contains the practices and principles that comprise the discipline. There are numerous careers within the area, with excellent opportunities for advancement. Students are introduced to the functions of marketing, foundations of marketing, and marketing utilities. These are related to potential careers, and students will participate in marketing/career research as determined by individual interests. Students will also examine work ethics and attitudes as related to success. The importance of business and human relations is emphasized throughout the year. Students will complete projects designed around the functions of marketing. The Marketing Internship component of the program allows students to receive on-the-job training through approved training stations. The training station must contribute directly to the development of the competencies necessary for employment and advancement in the field of marketing. Students must be employed in conformity with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. |

Students receive a one hour credit for the Marketing class and two hours of credit for the internship component of the program. To earn two hours of credit for the internship portion of the program, students must work an average of 20 hours a week. Student’s check stubs are used to verify hours worked each week. Another component of the Marketing Education program is DECA. Students must participate in DECA to be in the Marketing Program.
