Construction workers represent the single largest group of skilled workers in the nation’s labor force. These workers are engaged in building trades, repair and remodeling homes, commercial building, airports, recreation facilities, and many other types of construction.

In general, construction work may be divided into three specialized categories: structural (carpenter or brick layer), finisher (painter, floor covering installer, or roofer), and mechanical (electrician or plumber).

Want a career in construction technology?

The Construction Technology program is designed to acquaint students with all phases of construction. Instruction consists of classroom lecture and supervised hands-on training at the job site.

Students enrolled in the program assist in the construction of a house each year from framing to painting and trim work. Students are expected to furnish a few basic tools for their personal use during class.
